Sally Rippin, author/illustrator of Angel Creek and the Aussie Bites and Fang Fang series For the past few weeks I've been getting up early to snatch a few quiet novel-writing hours before my boys are up and demanding pancakes. Working from home, you never quite get the sense of things being "finished". That one little email requiring a response leads to the startling realisation that three hours later you're surfing YouTube watching videos of kittens. It's for that reason we've just implemented a wireless Sunday in our house. I have fantasies of us strolling through the park as a family, but sitting around in silence all nervous and anxious is probably going to be closer to the truth.I remember disliking Sunday when I was younger; it just seemed never-ending. My parents would be reading the papers or taking naps and I would literally sit there and listen to the clock ticking. Now I live for a quiet Sunday with no responsibility, where you have the freedom to invite friends over for a long lunch or to drop in on people. If anything, I'd love to spend more time taking advantage of the incredible cafes, exhibitions and galleries Melbourne has on offer. That just might become my Sunday resolution for 2011.
